Income and Wealth Distribution in Macroeconomics: A Continuous-Time Approach

چکیده

Abstract We recast the Aiyagari–Bewley–Huggett model of income and wealth distribution in continuous time. This workhorse model—as well as heterogeneous agent models more generally—then boils down to a system partial differential equations, fact we take advantage make two types contributions. First, number new theoretical results: (1) an analytic characterization consumption saving behaviour poor, particularly their marginal propensities consume; (2) closed-form solution for special case with types; (3) proof that there is unique stationary equilibrium if intertemporal elasticity substitution weakly greater than one. Second, develop simple, efficient portable algorithm numerically solving equilibria wide class models, including—but not limited to—the model.

Statistical Theories of Income and Wealth Distribution

The distributions of income and wealth in countries across the world are found to possess some robust and stable features independent of the specific economic, social and political conditions of the countries. Wealth and the Distribution of Income: Permanent and Transitory Effects

This paper examines the permanent and transitory effects of changes in wealth, the top federal marginal income tax rate, and capital gains tax rate on the distribution of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). This paper establishes the importance of wealth in determining the distribution of AGI, and results here suggest that its effects can negate the permanent effect of a change in both tax rates. Of t...
